Animals Found Abandoned Inside Home in Lehigh County

HUMANE SOCIETY OFFICIALS SAYS IT'S THE WORST CASE OF ANIMAL CRUELTY THEY'VE SEEN IN YEARS -- ANIMALS LEFT IN A LOCKED HOUSE FOR WEEKS WITHOUT FOOD OR WATER.
THE DISCOVERY WAS MADE INSIDE A HOME IN OREFIELD, LEHIGH COUNTY TUESDAY MORNING.
WFMZ'S Jaccii Farris HAS THE STORY.
Jaccii Farris:
Investigators say the owner of the home hasn't been seen for three weeks. The animals were found living in excrement, feeding off of each other to survive."
THE SOLE SURVIVOR OF A LITTER OF PUPPIES WAITS IN A LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY TRUCK, INVESTIGATORS BELIEVE ITS LITTER MATES WERE EATEN BY ANIMALS LOCKED INSIDE THIS OREFIELD HOME.
ORLANDO AGUIRRE:
" with no food or water or adequate sustenance the animals have to fend for themselves."
ALSO FOUND ALIVE TWO ADULT DOGS...A CAT.
A LIZARD, TURTLE AND SOME FISH.
AMONG THE PILES OF EXCREMENT AND TRASH, INVESTIGATORS FIND THE REMAINS OF AN EXOTIC BIRD, TORN APART BY THE HUNGRY ANIMALS, IT'S UNKNOWN HOW MANY ANIMALS WERE INSIDE THE HOME.
" we did look for remains but with the garbage and the place being ransacked it's hard to findand the smell is pretty deplorable and it's hard to breath in there it's like an ammonia smell which is holding us back from going into detail in there."
NEIGHBORS SAY THEY ARE DISGUSTED BY THE FIND, MANY HAD NO IDEA WHAT WAS GOING ON.
"I really think that I hope they find the owner and definitely get her into court because cruelty to animals it shouldn't be tolerated."
1839 "The animals have been brought here to the Lehigh County Humane society where they will be given medical treatment. The owner will face charges. If convicted, the animals will be adopted into new homes."
