AN UPDATE ON A STORY YOU SAW FIRST ON 69 NEWS -- A CASE OF ANIMAL CRUELTY THAT'S SHOCKED A COMMUNITY IN LEHIGH COUNTY, THE ANIMALS HAD TO FEED OFF EACH OTHER TO SURVIVE, NOW OFFICIALS ARE ASKING, HOW DID IT GET SO BAD?

WFMZ'S Jaccii Farris JOINS US LIVE FROM THE LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY WITH AN UPDATE.

BARBARA MOBLEY'S ATTORNEY SAYS HIS CLIENT SUFFERS FROM SEVERE DEPRESSION.
HE SAYS MOBLEY CLAIMS SHE DID PROVIDE FOOD AND WATER TO HER PETS.
BUT THROUGH SOME SORT OF TWISTED LOGIC SHE THOUGHT KEEPING THEM IN HER OREFIELD HOME WOULD SAVE THEIR LIVES.

**NOT VERBATIM**
ERV McLAIN:
"were the in a fecal ridden atmosphere..yes. Was it a case of horrendous judgement ? Yes it was."
BUT BETHLEHEM ATTORNEY ERV McLAIN SAYS HIS CLIENTS BARBARA MOBLEY'S ACTIONS WEREN'T FLAGRANTLY NEGLECTFUL OR CRUEL.
MOBLEY CONTENDS SHE MOVED OUT OF THE HOME TO DEAL WITH EMOTIONAL ISSUES AND HAD BEEN BACK EVERY OTHER DAY TO FEED AND WATER HER PETS.
TUESDAY LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY OFFICIALS ENTERED MOBLEY'S HOME SEIZING 6 ANIMALS LIVING IN LAYERS OF FECES.
(WHINING)
THIS PUPPY IS BELIEVED TO BE THE SOLE SURVIVOR OF IT'S LETTER.
INVESTIGATORS SAY IT'S POSSIBLE ITS LITTER MATES AND AN EXOTIC BIRD WERE EATEN BY THE STARVING ANIMALS.
BUT MOBLEY SAYS SHE KNOWS NOTHING ABOUT A LITTER OF PUPPIES AND HER BLUE AMAZON PARROT IS ALIVE AND WELL AT HER PARENTS HOUSE.
MOBLEY SAYS SHE WAS IN THE PROCESS OF FINDING NEW HOMES FOR HER PETS.
SHE SAYS LOCAL NO KILL SHELTERS WOULDN'T TAKE THEM.
"In a twisted if you will sort of way she believed she was saving their lives because if the went to the shelter they would be killed."
1257 "It's shaking...it just had a bath."
THE ANIMALS WERE TAKEN TO THE LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY WHERE THEY WILL REMAIN THERE UNTIL A JUDGE DECIDES THEIR FATE.

THE LEHIGH COUNTY HUMANE SOCIETY SAYS IT HAS RECEIVED NUMEROUS CALLS FROM MEMBERS OF THE COMMUNITY OFFERING TO ADOPT THE ANIMALS.
SOMETHING BOTH SIDES SAY WOULD BE A GOOD OUTCOME TO THIS CASE.
IF CONVICTED MOBLEY COULD FACE UP TO 750 DOLLARS AND 90 DAYS IN JAIL FOR EACH OF THE 12 COUNTS.
