Pennsylvania State Troopers will be stepping up patrols this holiday weekend. This year they're also increasing efforts to recognize drivers who are under the influence. WFMZ's Melissa Batulis tells us how.

Allentown's annual firework show lit up the night on Independence Day. And as we found out, the rising cost of fuel is not only boosting prices at the gas pumps...it's also shooting things up for pyrotechnics. WFMZ's Bo Koltnow reports.

There was a scary moment at the Allentown fireworks show Friday night for one of the fireworks company's employees. Police tell us there was a malfunction at some point that injured one of the men helping to set them off. He works for Schaefer Pyrotechnics, the company that runs the display. Police say his arms were burned.

President Bush wasn't the only politician on the clock July Fourth. Barbeques took a back seat to bureaucracy for Pennsylvania lawmakers. They spent the holiday tying up loose ends in Harrisburg. WFMZ's Joel D. Smith reports from the State Capitol.

A young couple got themselves off the beaten path Friday in Carbon County. Police say the two were biking in the Mauch Chunk Lake State Park when they got tired and lost and called for help. That call came around 5:00 Friday afternoon.
