Residents Sound Off On Interchange Proposal
A route 33 interchange proposal is pushing some buttons in Palmer Township. Chrin Companies wants to build an interchange just off Tatamy Road. Thursday night, a public meeting about the project was held. WFMZ's Bo Koltnow reports.

>>REPORTER: People from across Northampton County packed Charles Chrin Community Center in Palmer Township

>>NAT: Our board is really concerned but we do agree a good thing for Palmer Township.

>>REPORTER: Concern over traffic was the public meetings driving force. Chrin Companies is proposing a route 33 interchange just off Tatamy Road in Palmer Township. A privately funded proposal with a goal to ease traffic especially along route 115 in Stockertown. But Tatamy Mayor Luke Duignam says the only change an interchange would bring to his borough is more traffic.

>>LUKE: More traffic for Tatamy as routes come through main street in Stockertown.

>>REPORTER: As some worry about future traffic..others are concerned about would be construction.

>>NAT: Almost a year still in front of my house, people would end up in front of my house.

>>REPORTER: Chrin Companies owns the surrounding 800 acres. The company has a business park nearby. Susan Barndt and John Pawlikowski of Tatamy are concerned an interchange would only pave the way for more development in the future.

>>JOHN: Seems like a project by one man to benefit one man. Local business is owned by the same man, were in a community center named after him, it's so Goliath vs David.

>>REPORTER: The Engineering firm in charge on the meeting says there is no development assigned to the project future development is considered.

>>DAVE: Quite a few, like 100 acres to the west right now no development but could open up.

>>REPORTER: If the project is approved a fall 2011 open date could be expected.
