And The Winner Is...Milk Tart! Check Out the Recipe
Thanks to EVERYONE who participated in our Kutztown Folk Festival Poll. It was lots of fun! Hundreds and hundreds of you weighed in (thanks so much for taking time to vote)...and the winner is...MILK TART (Pennsylvania Dutch name is "Schlop Kucha"). I want to thank the good folks at Zion's Church at Windsor Castle for their help during our live shot in making the Milk Tart. Trust me...it tastes "wonderful-good" (as the Pennsylvania Dutch would say)!  Below you will find the recipe for the Milk Tart. It is one of many wonderful recipes in the Zion's Church cookbook (amazing dishes!). You can contact them if you'd like to get one of these cookbooks by calling 610-562-2300 or email zionssecretary@comcast.net .

Thanks again to everyone for your votes! Have a wonderful summer and thanks for watching 69 News and the AccuWeather Channel.

Warmly...your friend,

Ed Hanna, Chief Meteorologist

Milk Tart (Schlop Kucha)

Begin with an 9 inch pie shell and put in:

5 Tbsp. granulated sugar
5 Tbsp. brown sugar
5 Tbsp. flour

Mix well and add 1 1/2 tablespoons molasses. Put ingredients on bottom of pie shell. Fill pie shell with 1 2/3 cups of milk. Add 4 teaspoons of butter in small pieces. Bake for 1 hour at 375 degrees or until it begins to darken. (Note: You may want to put a layer or two of aluminum foil under this as it may boil over).
