One Tank Trip: Borgers Speedway

>> REPORTER: Like a scaled down NASCAR.. it's where fans of racing don't just watch from the grandstands.
>> STEVE HECKMAN: When the engines fire up and you hear that noise and you smell the methanol burning, it just gets in your blood and it's something you want to be around.
>> REPORTER: They race every weekend at Borger's Speedway in Saylorsburg, Monroe County. The tiny clay track .. where one lap is 1/7 of a mile.. is a replica of the old Nazareth Speedway- just down sized. It opened in 1999.. when the owners of the gas station out front started a simple go-kart track. Since then it's exploded.. running microsprints and slingshots... with a couple hundred spectators. Racers are all ages from 8 to 78.. and put on one of the best shows around... reaching speeds of 65 miles an hour.
>> RICHIE SMITH: If we get a full field, we'll start 24 cars and it's, you fit 24 cars out here it's tight.
>> REPORTER: A little bump here and there... all in good fun but that doesn't mean the drivers don't want to take the checkered flag.
>> HECKMAN: They run for money and it's very competitive.
>> REPORTER: It's getting a little dusty from all this speed.. so maybe you're not sure if you feel the need for speed? Well here at Borger's Speedway you can actually rent a race car for the night just to see how fast you can go.
>> SMITH: There's nothing else in this world that can describe what you feel like when you get into a race car.
>> REPORTER: You know that's too tempting for me to pass up.. and I figured an empty track was my best bet. A rental will cost you a couple hundred bucks.. worth it.. if you want an adrenaline rush. Going for a spin on a One Tank Trip to Borger's Speedway.. Karin Mallett 69 News Berks Edition.
