Seasonal Flu Drill Held In Locations Across Bucks County


>> ...Today's Pandemic Flu drill serves two purposes. First, it's a way for the county to vaccinate the masses.
Second, it's a way for [Bucks] County Emergency Management to practice the vaccination process they say would be necessary in the event of bioterrorism.
>> "We need to dispense medication as quickly as possible if we have a bioterrorism attack and this is practice for that."
>>REPORTER: A line of people waiting for their flu shot spilled out of the gym at Unami Middle School in Chalfont this morning.
Everything ran smoothly the lines were moving.
"This year you could feel the medicine squirting into you it felt so weird."
"Come back for your H1N1 Swine Flu shot in December."
>>REPORTER: The Bucks County Health Department and Emergency Management agency are working out the kinks... they say in case there's ever a situation that requires mass vaccinations.
"We have four pods at this time throughout the county. If we had a bioterrorism event we'd have to open up 20 to 30 of these things and have to get medication to an awful lot of people."
>>REPORTER: The pods are already equipped and ready to go to predetermined sites.
"We can get them to there immediately."
>>REPORTER: Most people waiting in line didn't realize they were part of a drill.
They came for their own reasons.
"In these challenging times you can't beat a free shot. I'd like him to not be sick as well and to keep from being off from work."
>>REPORTER: There are four simultaneous Pandemic flu shot sites in Bucks today... they expect to vaccinate between four and five thousand people.
"It's terrific that people really buy into this..."
>> REPORTER: They say the H1N1 vaccine will be available for children in November... and for adults in December.
