One Tank Trip: Fall Foliage In Jim Thorpe
The change of seasons provides us with some of Pennsylvania's prettiest pictures. And all you'll need is a car, a camera and less than a tank of gas to get to where we're going today. WFMZ's Karin Mallett takes us along on tonight's One Tank Trip to the Poconos.

>> REPORTER: It's Mother Nature's wardrobe change.. As summer becomes fall.. she slips out of the green.. and into a dazzling display of color. 

>> APRIL BARTON: Jim Thorpe is a perfect place to go for fall foliage. 

>> REPORTER: Leaf peepers abound in this quaint borough in Carbon County.. where colors are in peak form.. with about 75 percent of the leaves still on the trees. 

>> PATRICIA MCLAUGHLIN: Today is perfect for me, I like the change of the seasons. 

>> JOYCE GRAYBER: The colors, you can't describe it, it's really beautiful. 

>> REPORTER: Downtown Jim Thorpe provides brilliant 365 degree autumn views. Located at the base of a steep valley carved out by the Lehigh River.. you'll look around and up.. and every once in a while.. down. 

>> REPORTER: So that's where we were but now we're way up here. This is the view from Flagstaff Mountain.. just a couple minute drive from the downtown along Flaggstaff Road. 

>> BARTON: They also call it the Switzerland of the Americas.. it's a beautiful place to be. 

>> REPORTER: A winding road off Route 209 and once you get to the top.. it's a picture postcard. The colors varying with the altitude.. providing spectacular sweeping views of Blue, Broad and Bear Mountains. Experienced leaf peepers here will tell you that fall's last fling is best seen with no deadline. But Mother Nature is on a schedule.. and there are perhaps just a few weeks left to catch her like this..
