Yankees Win A.L.C.S., Will Play Phillies In World Series



The New York Yankees and the Philadelphia Phillies will now go head-to-head in the World Series. The Yankees beat the Los Angeles Angels in the sixth game of the American League Championship Series in the Bronx last night. The final score was 5-2. It's the Yankees' 40th A.L. pennant. The first game of the World Series will be at Yankee Stadium Wednesday night. Cliff Lee is expected to face A.L.C.S. MVP CC Sabathia in an enticing pitching matchup between former Cleveland teammates and the past two American League Cy Young award winners.
In Sunday night's game against the Angels, the Yankees' Andy Pettitte became the all-time winningest pitcher in major league postseason history, claiming his 16th by holding L.A. to a run and seven hits while striking out six.
