Phillies, Yankees Merchandise Flying Off Store Shelves
Now that the World Series will match up two area teams, championship gear is flying off the shelves at local sporting goods stores. But make no mistake about it, the registers are ringing for both the Phillies and the Yankees. WFMZ's Jaccii Farris reports.

>> REPORTER: World Series garb is hotter than ever. But which team is more in demand depends on where you go. At Schuylkill Valley Sports in the South Mall near Allentown, the Phillies pay the bills here. World Series fever has hit hard.

>> I want the ones with the flaps.

>>REPORTER: Fans are feverishly buying up sportswear for their favorite team: 80% Phillies, 20% Yankees. I think Yankees fans are just more used to winning.

>> We're definitely selling more Phillies because of the Phillies World Series. Other than last year, it hasn't happened in a while. It's kind of a new thing.

>>REPORTER: But if you drive 20 minutes towards Easton, the balance of fans starts to shift.

>> MATT KEITH: We were hoping for this series. It just took a little longer than we thought.

>> REPORTER: At Schuylkill Valley's Palmer Mall location near Easton, the Yankees are taking top spot for World Series sales, which is forcing manager Matt Keith to choose sides. On the business side, Yankees fan but personally a Phillies fan.

>>REPORTER: Keith says sales are brisk and should get better, but he says he has noticed this year, instead of purchasing several items. Some fans are sticking to just one. Just the same, sporting goods stores like Schuylkill Valley expect the World Series to be a home run. It's going to be crazy. Last year for the World Series was like a second Christmas basically. So, hopefully it's like that. The same thing as last year especially since it's two local teams.
