Memorial Fire Tower Marks 70th Anniversary Atop Mt. Penn


>>REPORTER: Charlie Adams told ghost stories as an audience listened about the possibly haunted Fire Tower.
>> ADAMS: A couple of weeks ago at night time there's something here there's no doubt about it .
>> REPORTER: Whether people wanted to hear about ghosts or the history of Mt. Penn they got an ear full.
>> ADAMS: It happened for only moments but she felt as if she was in the midst of a party going on at the site of that old hotel.
>> We just wonder who haunts the building.
>> REPORTER: The tower is 70 years old and there are plenty of guesses who is behind the spookiness, the former arsonist of the hotel, lovers who would park, or maybe the former caretakers of the tower.
>> CORRIE CRUPI: There's lots of feelings up here and footsteps is what we hear a lot. REPORTER: People had a chance to take their own footsteps up 168 stairs.
>>CHELSI JOHNSTON: I'm like the biggest scaredy cat in the world so I didn't want to come up so now I want to go back down I'm pretty frightened.
>>REPORTER: The climb can be scary but so are the stories you hear on top of the Fire Tower.
>>EARLENE HECKER: Right in the middle of the road we see this man we all see it, he was dressed in old fashioned clothes and just like a bang we thought we hit him,cause he's right in the middle of the road and we stop the car we heard no bang but we knew because he faded away.
>> REPORTER: People have seen ghosts but there were no sightings yet.
>>SKIP MARBURGER: And if it happened it would be great probably terrify me but it'd be great.
