Local Jeweler Offers Unique Design
The type of jewelry you wear can say a lot about your personality. And in Kutztown, Berks County, a local jeweler is offering a new design that has a unique technique that blends silver, color, and culture.  >> REPORTER: When you look at it you might think it's some type of thread or silk. But it's not.

>> Owner of Dunkelberger's Jim Springer: It's made out of 99% percent pure silver and it is finer then the width of a hair.

>> REPORTER: This unique type of jewelry is made in Mexico and comes in so many colors.

>> SPRINGER: It's a fusion of colors and styles it moves it's like the ocean you can see a lot of different things in it.

>> REPORTER: The designer Victor Sabido Basteris says he was inspired by the Mayan murals and he's been able to bring those new colors of silver to Kutztown through Dunkelberger's.

>> SPRINGER: Kutztown is a little undiscovered and my idea sometimes is to bring a little bit of the world to Kutztown so it's a two way street, it's kind of fun.

>> REPORTER: Springer has been in the business for almost 20 years and says he has never seen anything like it.

>> SPRINGER: Everybody who saw it was excited about it and what's even more exciting is when guys say this is great.

>> REPORTER: He's telling everyone about it.

>> SPRINGER: I said I know what you are getting your wife for Christmas he said okay send me something.

>> REPORTER: And even had a few pieces made for himself. And just like every business has been hit by the economy, he says this is so new it has improved sales.

>> SPRINGER: We also have a range of price so you know you can find a price point for everybody so that also makes it nice.

>> REPORTER: Springer is looking forward to December when the designer will be in his shop for two days.
