Doylestown Officials Investigate Arson Fires
Doylestown borough in Bucks County may have a serial arsonist on its hands. The borough has had 8 suspicious fires in the last 10 days. WFMZ's Stephanie Esposito reports.

>>REPORTER: It's the epitome of suburbia. White picket fences...kids walking home from school. SUV's and minivans fill the streets.

>> We've had 8 incidences of suspicious fires 2 have been determined by the fire marshall as arsons.

>>REPORTER: Suburbia up in smoke. This house on Union Street was one of the eight fires police believe to be an act of arson. There were four other fires the same day within walking distance of each other. The other three fires happened over the next few days...also within a few of these beautiful blocks.

>> If you follow the locations one leads to the other.

>>REPORTER: Of the eight fires, Chief Donnelly says this house sustained the most damage. It happened around 2 in the morning....the family was sleeping inside.

>> They were fortunate enough to be awoken and escape.

>> REPORTER:  Chief Donnelly says in his 15 years here in Doylestown Boro he's never dealt with anything quite like this. This isn't exactly the type of town that's used to seeing crime scene tape.

>> Because of the situation it's at least risking a catastrophe, could be attempted homicide.

>>REPORTER: The other fires were set in leaves, trash containers, on driveways. A fence and a law office were also damaged by fire. Each fire is believed to have begun between 11pm and 2am. Other than that police say they have no leads. But they do offer this advice.

>> I think you leave your outside lights on., before you go to bed you check your property and if you see anything at all unusual call the police.
