PRLA Festival a Popular Spot in Reading This Weekend
The threat of wet weather in our region isn't dampening spirits at the Latin America Festival this weekend, but it is forcing some changes to the schedule. WFMZ's Melissa Batulis has more on the festivities in downtown Reading.  REPORTER: On the surface, the Latin America Festival has all the rides, games and food of your typical carnival. But this year's event has a feminine touch. >> FIGUEROA: Without a woman you can't do much in this world. >> STAND UP: The theme of this year's festival pays tribute to Latino women. And local leaders and role models will be in the spotlight all weekend long. >> RUCKER: It's very good to show our young people, look it's not about having babies. It's about going to college and doing something with your life. >> REPORTER: Sorangel Rucker and Geraldina Sepulveda are both principals at Reading High and leaders in the community. Their faces are among the many other local Latino women who will be honored and featured in this photography tribute at the festival. >> SEPULVEDA: We're here to be role models for the males and the females that are growing up. >> REPORTER: These smiles are set to shine bright as the festival continues throughout the weekend. The weather however, may be a bit more dreary. Just in case, the annual parade, which was scheduled for Saturday, has been pushed back to Sunday. >> FIGUEROA: What's even better is we're going to have a full packed day on Sunday. We're having our baseball tournament, our car show. We'll have about five live bands. It's just going to be a fun day. >> REPORTER: In Reading, Melissa Batulis, 69 News Berks Edition.
