It's a fate most football fans can't fathom: a Super Bowl party without chicken wings. Cruel? Yes. But maybe possible, thanks to a nationwide shortage. WFMZ's Joscelyn Moes reports.



  Word of a chicken wing shortage has certainly ruffled some feathers. >> What? Are you kidding? >> Reporter: It seems demand for the perfect party poultry is up. >> I love 'em. I could eat dozens of 'em. >> Reporter: But apparently supplies are down, in part because a major poultry farm in Texas has filed for bankruptcy. Combine that with a growing appetite for wings this time of year and you have a poultry problem. >> It's a good thing I have some in the freezer. >> Reporter: But some may have to wing it without. Imagine no wings on Super Bowl Sunday. People would be screaming foul play. >> Claudia McDermott: A big wing revolt. (laugh) >> Reporter: No need to start squawking at Big Woody's. Despite demand, they have no plans to raise prices. >> Claudia McDermott: I don't know if it's that you can get sloppy and get away with it or they're just really good to eat. >> Reporter: Oliver Shakewell's in Allentown is also calming football fears. >> Josh DeLong: We won't run out of wings. >> Reporter: At least around here, there doesn't seem to be a big need to bring the chicken lady out of retirement to get her hands on wings. But you can never be too sure. So as we head into Super Bowl weekend, many folks will be livin' on a wing and a prayer.
