Reading's Pagoda Possible Backdrop for Hollywood Film
A little bit of Hollywood could be coming to Berks County. Super-star director M. Night Shyamalan was in Reading yesterday looking at locations for filming. And it seems like the area near the Pagoda might be a winner. WFMZ's Joel D. Smith has the story.

Locals have always had an affinity for this area, but now it appears we're not alone. >> Cindy Kauffman Things are looking more promising each day. >> Reporter: Nothing is official yet, but after multiple visits from his crew, famed director M. Night Shyamalan himself was here Wednesday. According to sources, his next project is an adaptation of the animated series on Nickelodeon called "Avatar: The Last Airbender" >> Cindy: It's interesting because the walls of the Pagoda and the deteriorated steps seem to fit the profile they're looking at. They'll actually block out our nice Pagoda. >>Reporter 'The Last Airbender' is expected to become a trilogy and has some of the same people working on it, as 'Lord of the Rings'. But what is it all about? We went to the experts at 12th and Marion Elementary School. >>  Joel D. Do you want to see a real action movie of The Last Airbender.? Yes! >> Javione Tyson I like it because there's a lot of people and action and stuff. >> Because they have super powers and fight the bad people. >> Jesus Orellama I like the part when he masters all the powers. >>Reporter Shyamalan has the power to film his movies just about anywhere but has always shown a loyalty to his home state of Pennsylvania. He most recently filmed "The Happening" in Chester County in 2007. >> Cindy: The Pagoda somewhat drew them to the location, and having time now to look around, they were very impressed, so who knows if it will open doors to more opportunities. >> Reporter: If it does work out, filming for the movie could happen as early as April. Still plenty of time to brush up on your Avatar knowledge.
