Court Papers: Accused Killer Stopped Taking Medication


According to court documents, the Berks County man accused of killing his ex-girlfriend at Gettysburg College last week admitted to the crime. Court papers also indicate that Kevin Schaeffer, 21, of Oley Township says he stopped taking his Zoloft, an antidepressant. In the documents, police say Schaeffer admitted to strangling Emily Silverstein, 19, and then stabbing her in the neck with a steak knife.Police say Schaeffer and Silverstein were students at Gettysburg College and the murder happened in Schaeffer's off-campus apartment on Thursday. Schaeffer remains behind bars. He's due in court later this month.
