>> DONNA RHODES: She's attributed to about 1,000 different pieces of literature.. she's prolific in writing- So when you see her office.. it's a very inspiring room.
>> REPORTER: Pearl S. Buck was born in the US but spent the first 40 years of her life in China.. and her love of Asian culture is evident in the work she's most famous for.. her 1931 novel.. "A Good Earth". You can find it in paperback on any bookstore shelf, but at the author's home at Green Hills Farms in Bucks County you get a rare glimpse of the original.
>> RHODES: It is the original 400 page manuscript, on the desk that she wrote it on, with the typewriter that she used. The last time all those pieces were united and together was in 1930.
>> REPORTER: The caretakers say every season is beautiful here and after a guided tour of the home, there are 68 sprawling acres to enjoy. In spring, just about everything is in bloom. It's a welcoming place that draws fans from around the world. But even if you've read every book she's written..
>> RHODES: I think what I hear very often is that people leave here and they say we had no idea how important she was, no idea how instrumental she was in trying to perpetuate global peace and perpetuate the legacy that every child should have a loving family.
